Still not gonna update while there are ads. Not gonna do it!
Also not happy about ads in an app I pay for.. A couple suggestions: How about adding a page where I can check off alcohol that I have on hand, and then have the option of only seeing drinks I can actually make. That would be cool! (Btw, create the list by including all the alcohol types from all the drinks in the database) Also, the reverse, where I can have a list made of all types of alcohol for drinks that I put a check mark next to (maybe favorites?), and an option that optionally removes the alcohol that I already have, and theres my shopping list the next time Im at the liquor store! Extra cool!! Keep the free updates coming! (and if we now have to put up with ads, at least I hope to see more & better free updates!)
Thia app is very informative..and clean interface,,
Ive had this app for about 6 months and its been my favorite until I downloaded version 2.4. I loved the old retro splash screen as the app started up. Now, theres a Grey Goose ad instead. Also, every recipe that requires vodka calls for "GREY GOOSE®" vodka - its distracting and annoying. I paid for this app and didnt expect to be bombarded with advertisements. However, Im still giving it 4 stars because Ive loved previous releases so much and because theyve fixed some of the jankiness around switching between the recipe, ingredients and photos of the drinks.
When I download a free app I expect ads. I also understand a developers need to make money. What I do not get is, when I have paid for an app - like I did this one and it suddenly, after the last update has ads for Grey Goose Vodka all over it, I feel I have been scammed. I did not want an ad version of this app, that is why I paid for it. I do not appreciate the developers suckering us in like they have here. Its a pretty nasty move and has really ruined the app. Which is unfortunate, this WAS the best out there, but now it is getting deleted from my phone and I shall take my business elsewhere. You should too. The worst aspect of this move - the update did not say they were adding these ads to it. Another shifty move by developers that have now joined the list of the worst in the bunch. Funny enough I like Grey Goose Vodka. I buy it. But you know what? They deserved to be spanked too for this move, so I WILL NOT be buying it any longer.
Another disappointed user who bought this app a while ago and was puzzled to see it sold out to grey goose. Very unhappy. Deleting the app and my relationship with grey goose. A sponsored free app should have been released along side the paid version. In this case, a mediocre vodka has turned this into a mediocre app. Goodbye to both.
Even though I paid for the app, the so-called upgrade substitutes an inferior ad-supported version. This feels like theft to me
Used to be good as everyone is saying.
This app used to be boring. It was just another swank, yet functional guide of cocktail recipes accompanied by good photos. *yawn* Then along came Grey Goose! With their sponsorship, my eyes have been opened. I had no idea how many beverages go with Grey Goose! Screw them chump non-Grey Goose cocktails. Who needs them?! I have even been inspired to make my own recipes. Ever try Grey Goose and Bud Lite? How about Grey Goose and infant formula?? Just like Mom used to make while nursing me. Thank you, Pocket Cocktails, for giving the finger to your paying customers. They needed some Grey Goose jammed down their throats!
Used to be a great app and worth the money I paid for it. Now its a joke of an app that is just a huge ad for Grey Goose. It would be such a joke if I hadnt paid for it. I understand if they want to make a free app with ads, but how about giving the people that actually paid for it a "goose free" version.
Why did I pay money for an app that now has grey goose ads all over it?
I never, ever should have "upgraded." A huge disappointment from a stylish, easy-to-use app that had all my favorite retro cocktails. Its not worth opening anymore.
I paid for this app!!! This is ridiculous!! So you riddle it with ads and make it free with grey goose as the sponsor? Im sickened by this. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS APP!!!
I paid for this App too and I still tell my friends about it. Come on now we all know this is pretty much the best App out there when it comes to cocktails. When the people at Pocket Cocktails Inc. created this they got everything right in my opinion. As an App developer myself I know they put much time and thought into it and now they should reap some rewards. The ad is only there for 3-4 seconds tops and so what if they mention a certain brand name vodka in the ingredients section. In general people will always use their favorite brand anyway. If you like to drink and have fun this a great App regardless of a little ad.
The developers put a lot into this free app good job! I like the random drink via shake! Excellant variety too!
The addition of ads for those who previously paid for this app is a very poor decision on the part of the developers. For the previous poster (who states they are also an app developer) you would do well to read through the critical responses to this move. A three to four second ad, in an app previously purchased because it was ad free is an affront. The logic that many people call for a particular type and brand of liquor only holds if that was the stated purpose of the app when it was orginally sold.
It reminds me of the TV show Bewitched a little too much
I paid for this app, now its free and ad supported. I should be able to turn off the ads or get a refund.
The app itself is pretty cool, but Grey Goose? Come on. It tastes like that 10 dollar for a half-gallon vodka we used to drink in highschool. Put it in a fancy bottle with a good story and a ridiculous price and people will buy anything. Stolichnaya and Absolut!!!
I just downloaded this free app and it not only has a big Grey Goose splash screen at startup, it is obnoxiously littered with Grey Goose ads all around: most of the drinks are Grey Goose drinks. For example, the Martini section does not show you how to make real drinks with real ingredients, its all about using flavoured Grey Goose vodka! I understand that developers what to make money from ads (seems to be the business plan du jour), but Id rather pay a few bucks for a stable application without stupid and intrusive ads.
